Oh, my. Life is good!

Guess what mama got?!?

Yeap, and my dear sweet hubby not only got me the BlackJack II IN RED (it's actually a deep wine color), he set me up on the internet with it! Oh, my, I can now check my email anywhere, anytime. Holy cow! I'm a tekki! I can get on ravelry anywhere and do what ever! Oh, my!

So what is the first thing I surfed for? A new knitting pattern! Oh, my. And I found a really cool teddy bear! I think it will take me a lifetime to figure out all the whistle and bells!

Guess what mamma wants for her birthday? Yeap, some BEAUTIFUL knitting needles. The whole set!

Here's The Harmony Wood Story

They are so beautiful! And I know someone that has them and LOVES them, so I am go to do more research on them, but dear hubby has until the end of August to fork over for them!

I'm doing something I thought I would NEVER do!

What is it you ask? What could this old, Christian woman possibly be considering doing that she thought she would NEVER do?

Continental knitting!!!

It even sounds classy, doesn't it!?!

After being a 'thrower' for almost 10 years, I'm going to change my 'style', and they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks! Just wait, in no time at all, I'll be whipping them stitches off like nothing!

And you ask, 'why would she be doing this?' Well, it looks so EASY, and I like easy!

So I'll let you know how it goes. Right now I have to keep watching the video while I'm doing it (feels like rubbing your tummy and patty your head at the same time!) But I know the more I do it the easier it will become, and I'm working on a bag for felting right now, so this is perfect to practice on!

Another GREAT day!!!

I got TWO yarn deliveries yesterday. I ordered the first two quarters of the Monthly Dishcloth Knit-A-Long (which is 14 skeins of cotton Peaches & Creme yarn) and my monthly kit of sock yarn and the pattern from TheKnitter.com's Sock Of The Month Club! Does it get any better than this? I didn't even leave the house and got 16 skiens of yarn!

Have I mentioned how much I love You Tube? Oh, yeah, yesterday. Well, I've avoided knitting with patterns and such for years because of the famous 'hole' problems, but look how easy this lady makes it look!

Guess I'll start trying to stretch myself....again!!!!

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

I love You Tube! I know there is a lot of weird stuff people put on there, but here are instuctions to do socks on two circular needles! No double point needles!

I guess 'normal' people go buy their socks at Walmart, but I am so excited to make my own socks! And now I have directions on doing it even in an easier way! Cool!

Oh happy day!!!!

I'm ON! Yes, that's why I haven't been blogging, I'm on Raverlry as of late Sunday night and now it will take me a lifetime to enter my stash!

Saturday, February 9, 2008

I have spent the last few non-blogging days surfing the net and checking out other knitting blogs. I'm very impressed. I also found I have a lot to learn. You gals are really good! I've spent the last several years crocheting, because I thought it was easier to correct and I'm a perfectionist, so correcting is sooooooo important to me! So just recently I signed up for a bi-monthly kit for socks at The Knitter.com, Sock of the Month Club, but now must practice my changing colors so there are no holes! Most of my knitting has been simple scarves, shawls, hats and I love cable hats! So now I will start stretching myself!

I am on the waiting list for ravelry and there are now only 1523 people are ahead of me in line. I've been waiting since 1 February and can't hardly wait! It looks soooo cool. All the gals that are on it are sooo good, hope I won't be the worst knitter!

Well, Laura's scarf is done
and now I will start on the blue cabled hat (out of Not Your Mama Knitting).

But thought I'd do some fast Valentine Dishcloth(© Designed by Rachel van Schie February 14, 2007) for some of my friends for Valentine's day--I know, I always wait until the last minute!

Do you know what I have noticed as I surf knitting blogs? Most knitters have cats!

I'm not perticularly a cat lover. I don't think I would hurt any animal unless I was being attack or saw someone else being attacked. I've never owned a cat or been close to someone who was crazy about cats. Well, maybe I need to re-phrase that. People just don't play with cats the way us dog owners play with dogs.

I saw a sign at a vets this weekend. It read:

Dogs have owners.

Cats have staff.

I think that pretty much sums it up!

Okay, I've been spending too much time cleaning and knitting and not enough time blogging and checking-out other sites and STUFF!

You got to see Kat! Just click on the picture! (Yep--I've been learning again how to do fancy-dancy stuff!)

I download and watch on my Ipod and it is one of the most professionally done shows I watch!

Then I found out about Ravelry--which really sounds neat, but there is a waiting list!

ravelry is a knit and crochet community

It's like everything on one site--list your stash--list your needles and hooks--keep track of the items you've made--search for patterns and 'talk' to other knitters/crocheters! Have I died and gone to Heaven?

Well, it's been too long.

I'm working on a scarf and a hat for--of coarse--Laura. She got a new NorthFace jacket--blue and now she wants to have a hat and scarf to match. I'd better hurry, the weather here in Alabama doesn't stay cold for long!
